Begin your spiritual expedition early in the morning from Chandigarh to Rishikesh. This journey takes you through beautiful landscapes and quaint towns. Upon arrival in Rishikesh, check into your hotel and spend some time relaxing. You may also explore the peaceful surroundings and the famous Ganges ghats. Overnight stay in Rishikesh prepares you for the journey ahead.
After an early breakfast, drive towards Joshimath, the gateway to Hemkunt Sahib and other Himalayan pilgrimage sites. The road winds through picturesque valleys, offering stunning views of snow-capped peaks and dense forests. On arrival, check into your hotel and rest well. Joshimath is an important spiritual hub, so you can visit some local temples or Gurudwaras in the evening.
Today, start early and drive from Joshimath to Govindghat, the base camp for the Hemkunt Sahib trek. From Govindghat, embark on a scenic trek to Ghangaria (about 14 km), passing through beautiful forests and rivers. Ghangaria is a small village that serves as the last stop before reaching Hemkunt Sahib. Spend the night in Ghangaria to acclimatize and prepare for the next day’s early trek.
Wake up early for the challenging trek to Hemkunt Sahib, situated at an altitude of around 4,632 meters. The trek (approximately 6 km one way) takes you through breathtaking Himalayan scenery, with prayer flags fluttering and tranquil mountain views. Upon arrival, visit the sacred Hemkunt Sahib Gurudwara, offer prayers, and absorb the spiritual energy of this holy site. After darshan, descend back to Ghangaria for overnight stay.
After breakfast, trek back from Ghangaria to Govindghat. From there, drive back to Joshimath for a comfortable stay. Use the evening to relax and explore Joshimath or attend prayers at the local Gurudwaras.
Begin your return journey by driving from Joshimath back to Rishikesh. Upon arrival, take some rest before continuing your trip back to Chandigarh. Reflect on the divine experiences of your pilgrimage and cherish the memories of this sacred expedition.
